Overview

This is a wonderful studio upright acoustic piano suitable for pianists of all levels and ages. It has been pampered, immaculately kept and regularly tuned. Designed and built by Tokai, it has bright mid- and upper-register response and a rich, deep bass. Key action is light-to-moderate, with reassuring firmness.

About Tokai

In case you're unfamiliar with Tokai, here is some information about the company that I extracted from the "Blue Book of Pianos" web site:

TOKAI PIANOS, U.S.A.

Tokai Pianos are manufactured by Tokai Gakki Co., Ltd., in Hammamatsu, Japan, the third largest and leading musical instrument manufacturing company in Japan. The company offers Studio Classic Pianos, Chippendale Uprights, Modern Uprights, Grand Pianos, Continental and American Consoles, Spinets, and Modern and Historical Cembalos/Harpsichords, all of the highest quality.

Tokai Piano U.S.A., Inc., is a joint venture with the parent company, Tokai Gakki Co. Ltd. Tokai Gakki is the third largest musical instrument company in Japan. In February 1983, a third facility was opened which is to be devoted entirely to the manufacturing of grand pianos.

All Tokai vertical and grand pianos include bass agraffes, Royal George T pin hammer felt, reverse locking tuning pins, artist bench, and a 12-year full warranty. Models include studios, uprights, grand pianos, and Continental and American consoles in high-polish and satin finishes. Tokai also manufactures handcrafted harpsichords. Worldwide headquarters of Tokai Gakki Co., Ltd., is in Hamamatsu, Japan.

NOTE:

As an additional point of information, Tokai is no longer doing business in the U.S. However, none of its piano components are proprietary, meaning that strings, felt, hammers, keys and so on would be readily available through any qualified piano technician. Of course, as a semi-professional musician I have kept this instrument in outstanding condition and I seriously doubt you'll have to worry about any such expenditures.

Sale & Auction Information

In addition to selling to private individuals, I am listing this piano on ebay as a standard 7-day auction. The reserve price is $2,500. That would be an incredible deal for anyone, although I certainly would more than happy to see it go for a higher amount!

The buyer or winning bidder will be responsible for pickup and actual shipping/delivery costs. If purchasing from out of the Los Angeles area, you should consider insuring the shipment as well.

If the buyer or winning bidder is in the greater Los Angeles area and would prefer to pick up the item personally, I am open to that possibility. My contact information is provided on this site.

In terms of payment, I prefer an official bank check. Cash will be accepted if the buyer personally picks up the item. Depending on your feedback rating and length of time as an ebay member, I may also accept a personal check, although I will not be able to arrange for shipment of the piano until the check clears, typically within 7-10 business days.
